Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 ¼ cup flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • dash cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp orange juice
  • ¼ lb sweet margarine (1 stick)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg

Filling

  • 6 or 7 apples
  • ¼ cup raisins washed
  • almonds chopped
  • scraped orange peel
  • ¼ cup jelly
  • 1 tbsp flour

Instructions

Dough

  • Knead all ingredients together. If sticky, add flour to your hands.
  • Roll onto floured board. If you haven't got a board, use aluminum foil with flour on the rolling pin. Use as little flour as possible for rolling. Use just enough so that the dough does not stick.
  • Roll out a circle to measure larger than the pie plate. When removing the pie dough to put into pan, try to gently lift it off of the foil or board. If you find it easier to wrap it around the rolling pin, remove it this way.
  • Butter pan and lay the dough in the pan.
  • Should you have tears in the dough, don't cry, simply patch it.

Filling

  • If you should use greenies you will need quite a bit of sugar. About a ¼ cup. Should you use macintosh apples don't use any sugar and add a bit of lemon juice.
  • Pare and slice apples and add all ingredients with about a tbsp of flour, toss gently.

Assembly & Baking

  • Place filling on top of dough.
  • Add top cover and cut into sections.
  • Bake at 375℉ for about an hour. When it is brown on top it is done. Look at it after 40 minutes.
